‘Twas the night before

I woke early this morning to treat my clothes and equipment with permethrin, a pesticide to keep ticks and mosquitoes away. I went to church for some final scrambling of last details. My daughter Olivia stuffed the backpack with me throwing a few more things down the stairs at her. After a quick goodbye to Todd, I left for my brother Alex’s house. Luckily he had some leftover cold pizza b cause in the rush, I didn’t eat lunch. 4.5 hours later, we arrived at the Gorham Motor Inn in Gorham, NH. Pizza dinner then after checking all our gear, I made a few minor subtractions. I took my last shower for a while. Tomorrow morning we head to Grafton Notch for a 5 day 4 night section, and depending on how it goes, we may end up in Rangeley on Monday July 5. The weather is going to high in the low 60s and low in the 40s. It’s a far cry from the 95 degree weather in CT when I left. I’m hoping for a peaceful sleep to be well rested for a big climb tomorrow. Sabbatical has begun!
